Project Management Qualifications pathway

Why study Project Management? – see Andrew Drury’s blog on this subject

The APM’s qualifications pathway includes internationally-recognised professional qualifications at 4 different levels. As a prelude, the Introductory Certificate in Project Management requires no prior knowledge or experience, and is designed for anyone looking to start a career in project management, or those who want to understand the principles of project management excellence. It is knowledge-based, and provides an overview of the key tools and techniques of project management. The first professionally-recognised qualification is the APMP, and it too is a knowledge-based qualification. It is aimed at project managers and aspiring project managers who wish to demonstrate their firm grasp of the project management Body of Knowledge. This qualification is set at the International Project Management Association’s Level D.

The Practitioner Qualification is for experienced professionals who are looking to demonstrate their ability, not just their knowledge. Unlike the Introductory Certificate or the Foundation Certificate assessment is not by a written exam, but observation of participants performance in case study situations. This qualification is set at the International Project Management Association’s Level C.

The highest level qualification is the Registered Project Professional (RPP). This is available through peer-review.

HATC offers courses that provide the Introductory Certificate in Project Management and the APMP (confers professional status on the holder).
