HATC Ltd (pronounced ‘Hat-see’) is one of the longest-established consultancies specialising in affordable housing. We were set up by Andrew Drury in 1994 as Housing Association Training & Consultancy and incorporated in 2005 as HATC Ltd. We work for housing associations, ALMOs, councils, government agencies, trade and professional bodies as well as private developers in both residential and retail sectors.
Meet the team
Andrew is a highly regarded and experienced property development and management practitioner, who has worked very successfully in the affordable housing sector for over twenty five years, delivering affordable housing developments and regeneration schemes since 1983, from Admin Officer to Group Development Director for a major regional HA. In 1994 Andrew established the consultancy HA Training & Consultancy that incorporated as HATC Ltd in 2005. He is a member of the Association for Project Management.
Andrew provides high-level services, including senior level interim management; management of complex projects, strategy and policy advice; process reviews and maps; staff professional development and recruitment; other support in delivering affordable housing projects and programmes. He has also authored many publications providing guidance on affordable housing development. He has literally written the book on issues such as HCA design compliance, design guides, Building for Life, and Development Procedures.
Andrew has been an active Board member of four housing associations, most recently with an LSVT HA in Yorkshire, chairing the Audit & Performance Review Committee and the Partnering Working group.
Damian is a Chartered Surveyor with thirty years experience in property development, in both the retail and residential sectors. He runs a property development company, and offers agency and consultancy services. Damian is our site-finding specialist, and also works on scheme feasibility studies and project delivery. He brings a sound commercial approach to projects.
Lesley has worked for many years on housing association regeneration, development and resident involvement initiatives. Lesley has project managed large neighbourhood renewal and estate transfer projects across London and provided interim management services for the Development Director position in a London HA. Lesley and her partner have their own consultancy – Johnson Pancucci – specialising in communications.
Amanda has been the Office & Accounts Manager since the practice was established, providing administrative support on HATC projects whilst maintaining business operations.
Research & Admin Assistant
Julia is a part-time research assistant who also provides administrative support as required.
We have contacts with several other consultants who work in this area, and there are six that we work with most closely. In addition we can access specialist advice in the fields of architecture, planning, funding, valuation, conveyancing, construction management and cost planning to support our work with you.
Alumni: Jonathan Smart
Jonathan is an experienced research assistant who has a first-class honours degree in Architectural Technology and has since researched dwelling sizes and standards for the GLA and the variation in internal space between units in different schemes, focusing on kitchen, dining, WC, utility and bathroom areas for ‘Innovation Chain North-West’. His skills include expertise in CAD and being highly competent in database design and interrogation. His attitudes include enthusiasm and thoughtfulness as well as attention to detail and a drive to deliver high-quality results. Jonathan holds the APM’s Introductory Certificate in Project Management.
In 2013 Jonathan left HATC to take up a Graduate Traineeship with a national housebuilder. He is doing very well indeed (as we expected), and is now an experienced Land Manager for another national housebuilder. He’s still listed here as we want him back one day!
